Exploring the Tranquil Charms of Ramdevra: Where History and Spirituality Unite
Our first stop on this road trip escapade is the quaint village of Ramdevra, a mere 12 km north of Pokhran in the heart of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Founded by the esteemed Baba Ramdev Pir, son of Pokhran’s ruler, Ajmal Singh Tanwar, Ramdevra is more than just a village—it’s a thriving Gram Panchayat, economically robust thanks to the influx of tourists and devotees.
The village comes alive between August and September with a vibrant fair, drawing pilgrims from Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and beyond. Ramdev Pir Temple, Ramsarovar Lake (legend has it, carved by Ramdev Pir himself), and the enchanting Parcha Bawdi stepwell are among the must-see attractions that add to the village’s allure.
After an hour of soulful worship, we resumed our expedition, arriving at the charming Ashapura Hotel for the rejuvenating tea and breakfast. Nestled conveniently near the bridge to Jaisalmer and at the crossroads of Pokhran, this haven became our gateway to the enchanting journey ahead.
